my body;
a pocket of earth
riven with weak eggs
the pulse of chromosomes
will only bruise

my body;
lactation failure,
tuberous breast deformity
insufficient fund of
glandular tissue

my body;
house of a
thousand autumns
yesterdays are
bursts of red,
flesh that could
not solidify
iv.
my body;
will never
conceive spring
and child, i am sorry
i cannot pull the poetry from my belly
to sing your nursery verses
